Recap: Geneva Panthers vs. Graceville Tigers
After a string of eight wins, the Geneva Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Graceville by a score of 46-43. Geneva found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Geneva's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaden Ward, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Erica Torres who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Ward's third in a row with at least ten points.
Geneva struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Graceville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charity ?miah? Fountain led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. Brianna Adams was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Geneva's defeat ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3. As for Graceville, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Geneva and UMS-Wright Prep will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (UMS-Wright Prep is ranked 61st, while Geneva is ranked 70th). Graceville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Oconee Academy at 1:00 p.m. on December 21st.
