Basketball Game Preview: Morrill Lions vs. Gordon-Rushville Mustangs

Morrill hasn't had much luck against Gordon-Rushville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Morrill Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Morrill is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 57-37 to Lingle-Fort Laramie. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 145th in Nebraska, while the Doggers are ranked 16th in Wyoming).

Meanwhile, Gordon-Rushville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Chadron.

Gordon-Rushville's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Morrill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.

Morrill might still be hurting after the 65-43 loss they got from Gordon-Rushville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Morrill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
