Football Game Preview: East Gaston Warriors vs. Shelby Golden Lions + How To Watch

East Gaston is 0-9 against Shelby since October of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will welcome the Golden Lions at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, East Gaston came up short against Cherryville and fell 21-14.

Although East Gaston took the loss, they still got scores from Camden Stillwell and Jaden Robinson.

Meanwhile, Shelby fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Lincolnton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Wolves were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 35-34 loss. The Golden Lions gained 97 more yards on the day, but it was the Wolves that made the best use of them.

East Gaston will have to contain Jaylen Tate as he made an impact in Shelby's last game. He rushed for 89 yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 54 receiving yards.

East Gaston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Shelby, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

East Gaston was dealt a bruising 55-22 defeat at the hands of Shelby when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Warriors, Tristan Tate (who rushed for 156 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
