Baseball Recap: Talawanda's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Talawanda can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Madison Mohawks. The result was nothing new for the Brave, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Talawanda got a great performance from Jack Stigall as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Stigall has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adam Achterman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Talawanda: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-16 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jericho Fletcher, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Talawanda's win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Madison, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Talawanda will venture away from home to square off against St. Xavier at 5:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Madison, they will welcome Emmanuel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
