Softball Recap: Fort Atkinson Wins Going Away Against Mcfarland

Fort Atkinson's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the McFarland Spartans with a sharp 12-2 win.

Leah Ferhman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Olivia Knickrehm was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tianna Kostroski, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Fort Atkinson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory got Fort Atkinson back to even at 2-2. As for McFarland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Atkinson will host Johnson Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bluejays will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Blackhawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for McFarland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Portage at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
