Basketball Recap: Verde Valley Comes Up Short on the Road Against BASIS - Prescott

Verde Valley kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the BASIS - Prescott Coyote. The Coyotes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Coyote apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Verde Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Peter Heller, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Chorlton, who scored seven points.

BASIS - Prescott's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Verde Valley will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against American Heritage Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
