Recap: Marlboro County Bulldogs vs. Lakewood Gators
After losing to the Lakewood Gators the last time they met, the Marlboro County Bulldogs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Marlboro County snuck past Lakewood with a 55-50 victory on Wednesday.
Leading Marlboro County to victory were Nori Adams and Jaitez Barbour. Adams scored 15 points, while Barbour scored 16 points. Adams is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Justin Purvis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Marlboro County's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Lakewood, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marlboro County on the road again on Friday and play against Crestwood at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Crestwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Marlboro County likes a good challenge. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake City is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
