Baseball Recap: Intrinsic Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Intrinsic can now relate to. They lost 17-10 to the Prosser Falcons on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Joel Diaz put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Intrinsic is 7-3 when Diaz posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brandon Loredo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Intrinsic: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Munoz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Intrinsic's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Prosser, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-7.

Intrinsic has already played their next matchup (against Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Prosser, they will challenge Golder at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.9 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
