Preview: Sarasota Sailors vs. Lakewood Ranch Mustangs
The Sarasota Sailors will be playing at home against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Sarasota has not done well against Riverview Sarasota recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Sarasota walked away with a 70-58 victory over Riverview Sarasota. The win was just what Sarasota needed coming off of a 84-24 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Lakewood Ranch took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over Saint Stephen's Episcopal.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakewood Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Allen, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was James Butler, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
The losses dropped Sarasota to 2-1 and Riverview Sarasota to 0-2.
Everything came up roses for Sarasota against Lakewood Ranch in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 65-19 win. Does Sarasota have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakewood Ranch turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
