Volleyball Recap: Highland Falls Short Against Ranked Wood River

Highland faced Wood River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Rams lost 3-0 to the Wolverines. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Wolverines when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Highland ultimately came up short, they really made Wood River work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 27-25, 25-15.

Highland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaycie Homer, who had 16 assists and four digs, and Britt Reno, who had nine assists and two aces. Andee Matthews also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Highland dropped their record down to 5-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Wood River, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

After both having extra time off, Highland and Idaho Falls will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on September 4. As for Wood River, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Kimberly on the 26th.
