Baseball Recap: Gross Catholic's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gross Catholic lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Omaha Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. Gross Catholic never let Omaha Central get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Gross Catholic got a great performance from Charlie Yeshnowski as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, Yeshnowski didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Robbie Brennan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Maddux Villamonte was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Gross Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Gross Catholic's record is now 3-1. As for Omaha Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Gross Catholic Cougars challenge South Sioux City Cardinals on Monday. Gross Catholic's pitchers better be ready for this one: South Sioux City has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Omaha Central, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Millard West at 4:30 p.m.
