Pope John Paul II lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trey Pearson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Fred Bailey, who scored 24 points along with two steals.
Pope John Paul II's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4. As for Lipscomb Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
Pope John Paul II won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Irish at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Father Ryan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Knights are ranked fourth). As for Lipscomb Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.
