Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ridge View last Thursday, Spring Valley came back down to earth. Spring Valley fell 6-3 to the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes on Friday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Silver Foxes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

Spring Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Williams, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Williams is becoming a predictor of Spring Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't). Another was Jackson Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Spring Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Dutch Fork, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will take on Westwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dutch Fork, they will challenge Lexington at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Dutch Fork 3.1, Lexington 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
