Baseball Recap: Cypress Lake Victorious

Cypress Lake's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Lely Trojans. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.

Evan Skaggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has become a key player for Cypress Lake: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 3-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Fernando Carrasquel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Shelby Fields also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Cypress Lake's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Lely, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Cypress Lake will be playing at home against South Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Lake is facing South Fort Myers at the right time seeing as South Fort Myers is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lely, they will head out to challenge Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
