Basketball Preview: Maple Hill Wildcats vs. Hudson Blue Hawks
Maple Hill is 8-2 against the Blue Hawks since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Maple Hill Wildcats will be playing at home against the Hudson Blue Hawks at 6:30 p.m.
Last Wednesday, Maple Hill ended up a good deal behind the Spartans and lost 51-34.
Meanwhile, Hudson stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Cairo-Durham at home to the tune of 73-24. While fans of Hudson might be used to big wins, the 49-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Hudson found their leader in underclassman Malia Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 38 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Jackson has scored at least a third of Hudson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriah Walker, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 22 rebounds.
Maple Hill's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Hudson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Maple Hill beat the Blue Hawks 36-25 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Maple Hill have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
