Two dominant backs in Da'Kari Releford Jr and Xavier Lukes are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans will face off against the Pine Creek Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 834 yards in their previous games.
Fountain-Fort Carson will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Chaparral on Friday. The Trojans blew past the Wolverines 49-23. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Fountain-Fort Carson found their leader in sophomore Jaylen Martin, who rushed for 147 yards and one TD while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 124 yards and one touchdown. Those 147 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Martin. Tori'An Carr got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Fountain-Fort Carson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Fountain-Fort Carson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Carr and Aundre Nickleberry. Carr got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Pine Creek faced Regis Jesuit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 31-24.
Fountain-Fort Carson better keep an eye on Brady Walden. He was instrumental in Pine Creek's win, rushing for 66 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. The dominant performance also gave Walden a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).
Fountain-Fort Carson's record now sits at 7-2. As for Pine Creek, their record is now 6-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Fountain-Fort Carson has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 234.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pine Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 257.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Fountain-Fort Carson was taken down by Pine Creek 49-16 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Trojans, Cameron Cooper (who rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 196 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
