Volleyball Recap: River City Science Academy Starts Season with Loss on the Road

River City Science Academy had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Stanton Blue Devils, falling 3-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-7, 25-14.

Stanton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anela Manganti, who had 12 digs and four aces. Manganti is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Laeyan Rafat was another key player, getting 12 assists and five aces.

Stanton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River City Science Academy will face off against Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stanton, they will square off against KIPP Bold City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
