Football Game Preview: Rosman Tigers vs. Swain County Maroon Devils

Rosman hasn't had much luck against Swain County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will host the Maroon Devils at 7:30 p.m. Rosman has given up an average of 39.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rosman's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Robbinsville on Friday. They were dealt a 61-0 loss at the hands of the Black Knights. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Black Knights are ranked 133rd).

Meanwhile, Swain County got the win against Cherokee on Friday by a conclusive 40-14. The Maroon Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Rosman better keep an eye on Andruw Cody. He was instrumental in Swain County's win, rushing for 140 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Cody a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Shuler, who rushed for 110 yards.

Swain County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.3 points on average over those games. As for Rosman, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Rosman was dealt a bruising 42-8 loss at the hands of Swain County in their previous matchup back in March of 2021. Thankfully for the Tigers, Damian Lossiah (who rushed for 75 yards and four scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
