Rootstown gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They won by a set and slipped past the United Golden Eagles 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Rovers in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won six in a row.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Rootstown got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 15-25, 16-14.
Colbie Curall paced Rootstown's offense, picking up 18 kills. Curall got some help from Kylie Shelly and her 17 assists. Finally, Curall was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.
