Softball Recap: Troup Beats Arp for Their 12th Straight Victory

Troup came tearing into Thursday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 11-6 win over Arp. Surprisingly, this marked Troup's fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Taylor Gillispie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, MaKayla Spencer was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Troup's victory was their 18th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Arp, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-5.

As of now, neither Troup nor Arp have any future games scheduled.
