Basketball Preview: Folsom Bulldogs vs. Whitney Wildcats
Folsom is 10-0 against the Wildcats since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Folsom Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Whitney Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Folsom's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
Folsom pushed their score all the way to 66 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Venture Academy 70-66. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Folsom came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Mustangs are ranked 222nd).
Meanwhile, even though Del Oro scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, Whitney still came out on top. Whitney snuck past the Golden Eagles with a 70-66 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Whitney.
Folsom's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Whitney, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.
Everything went Folsom's way against the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January as the Bulldogs made off with a 74-52 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Folsom since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
