Softball Recap: Metrolina Christian Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Metrolina Christian Academy dropped their record down to 5-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 10-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for SouthLake Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

For SouthLake Christian Academy's part, Hayden Blair spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. Blair has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Sherard was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Pressley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, Metrolina Christian Academy and SouthLake Christian Academy will both be playing Greater Cabarrus S the next time they take the field. The Warriors will head out to face the Stallions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
