Recap: Mountain Ridge Sentinels vs. Herriman Mustangs
The Mountain Ridge Sentinels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Herriman 57-51. While losing is never fun, Mountain Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Herriman is ranked eighth).
Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Spencer Krainich, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Krainich has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Allen, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Herriman was led to victory by Carlo Mulford and Malcolm Johnson. Mulford scored 17 points along with three steals, while Johnson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Mulford has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ike Palmer, who scored two points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Mountain Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Herriman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Mountain Ridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Copper Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Herriman, they will head out on the road to challenge Corner Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corner Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
