Softball Recap: Caverna Colonels vs. Larue County Hawks

Caverna had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 13-18 to make it four. They came up short against the Larue County Hawks, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, with their most recent loss being a 11-1 defeat back in April.

Summer Sallee made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

As for Larue County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 26-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

On Larue County's side, Laura Austin made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Austin has posted over her last seven contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Larue County let Emmaline Engle and Molly Abbott run wild. Engle went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Abbott got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Engle has posted over her last ten matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellee Marksbury, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
