League recap: Woodbury win leads to rise in state rank

Woodbury moved up to 60 from 90 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Colonial - Patriot. The Thundering Herd climbed the ranks as a result of topping Haddonfield 20-13.

Paulsboro's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zack Funk threw for 176 and three touchdowns and Deshaun Burgess had 85 yards receiving. On the ground Burgess chipped in 117 yards. Derrick Burgess helped Paulsboro's passing attack out by catching five balls for 31 yards.

On the ground, Woodbury's Anthony Averertt has rushed for 545 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Burgess. The Paulsboro star has 24 catches for 263 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lindenwold takes on the Red Raiders. At the moment, the Lions are in fifth, while Paulsboro is in second.

Glenn Howard's team led Colonial - Patriot in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Haddon Heights. Funk ran for 37 yards in the win.
