Placer is 8-2 against Nevada Union since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hillmen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Miners at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Placer's win against Yuba City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hillmen slipped by the Honkers 49-48 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Hillmen in their matchups with the Honkers: they've now won four in a row.

Danny Sanchez-Harlow produced another solid effort rushing for 218 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 105.2 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesiah Aday, who rushed for 120 yards and one TD while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Placer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 399 rushing yards. They are 4-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Placer, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sanchez-Harlow, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nevada Union). They really took it to Del Campo for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-42 win. Considering the Miners have won three contests by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Nevada Union had a senior duo take command as Rhyder Eelkema rushed for 181 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries and Brandon McCallum rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Eelkema also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Miners are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-5 otherwise.
Placer's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Nevada Union, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Placer has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 255.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nevada Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 287.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Placer against Nevada Union in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-21 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Eelkema, who picked up 71 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 100 yards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Hillmen still be able to contain Eelkema? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
