Baseball Recap: Morley Stanwood Find Success

Morley Stanwood took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Evart, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mohawks skirted past the Wildcats 6-5. For the Mohawks, this counts as revenge for the 6-0 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2019.

Devin Garbow was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Garbow wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bo Slavens, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The victory snapped Morley Stanwood's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-13 record. As for Evart, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Morley Stanwood beat the Wildcats by a score of 7-3 later that day.
