Basketball Preview: Eastern Randolph Wildcats vs. Southwestern Randolph Cougars
Eastern Randolph is 2-8 against the Cougars since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eastern Randolph Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Southwestern Randolph Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Eastern Randolph's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Wheatmore.
Eastern Randolph's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ziera Watson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Kenly Whitaker who scored nine points along with five assists. That was a full 41.5% of Eastern Randolph's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Southwestern Randolph unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Randleman. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southwestern Randolph has scored all season.
Eastern Randolph dropped their record down to 3-16 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.4 points per game. As for Southwestern Randolph, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-3.
