Baseball Game Preview: Fort Payne Wildcats vs. Southside Panthers

Fort Payne hasn't had much luck against Southside recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Fort Payne Wildcats take on Southside Panthers at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Fort Payne has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Fort Payne is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since March 27, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Marbury by a score of 5-3.

Fort Payne saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryker Shankles, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Southside came up short against Mundelein on Wednesday, falling 9-3.

Fort Payne's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Southside, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.

Fort Payne suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Southside in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Can Fort Payne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
