Baseball Recap: Ponitz Career Tech Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Ponitz Career Tech dropped their record down to 5-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 6-3 to the Belmont Bison. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 two weeks ago.

As for Belmont, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games.

For Belmont's part, Carter Blankenship made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Blankenship was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bryce Smith was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Jordan Blankenship was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Coming up, Ponitz Career Tech will face off against Trotwood-Madison at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Belmont, they will take on Meadowdale at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
