Basketball Game Preview: Dayton Bulldogs vs. Pomeroy Pirates

Dayton hasn't had much luck against Pomeroy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dayton Bulldogs will welcome the Pomeroy Pirates at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dayton took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Colton with a sharp 52-32 victory.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pomeroy). They enjoyed a cozy 65-46 win over Oakesdale on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Dayton better focus on containing Jett Slusser and Braxton McKeirnan as the pair were huge in Pomeroy's win. Slusser shot 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds, while McKeirnan posted 15 points along with five boards and three steals. What's more, McKeirnan also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January. Kyzer Herres was another key player, putting up nine points.

Dayton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Pomeroy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Dayton was dealt a bruising 64-16 defeat at the hands of Pomeroy in their previous matchup back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dayton was down 39-6.
