Softball Recap: Fuquay - Varina Takes a Loss

If Fuquay - Varina was feeling good fresh off their 20-1 takedown of Southeast Raleigh last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fuquay - Varina took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garner Trojans on Friday. The Bengals haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ayala Durant was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Jayda Ours was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Durant wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Fuquay - Varina kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Fuquay - Varina's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Garner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Fuquay - Varina will take on Willow Spring at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fuquay - Varina will need to watch out since Willow Spring has now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches. As for Garner, they will challenge Southeast Raleigh at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Raleigh has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.25 runs per game on average), something Garner will no doubt try to take advantage of.
