Volleyball Preview: DuQuoin Indians vs. Trico Pioneers
The DuQuoin Indians are on the road again on Monday to play the Trico Pioneers at 7:15 p.m.
Last Thursday, DuQuoin came up short against Nashville and fell 2-0.
While DuQuoin had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20.
Despite the defeat, DuQuoin got top-tier performance from Love Dunklin, who had 18 digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, Trico waltzed into their match on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They won by a set and slipped past the Indians 2-1.
Trico had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-7, 25-21.
DuQuoin's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-10. As for Trico, they pushed their record up to 28-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
DuQuoin came out on top in a nail-biter against Trico in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for DuQuoin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
