Softball Game Preview: Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic vs. Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials

The Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic will square off against the Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

Mt. St. Joseph Academy managed to slip by Central Bucks West the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Magic came up short against the Bucks on Saturday, falling 12-2. The matchup marked the Magic's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Plymouth Whitemarsh made easy work of Abington on Thursday and carried off an 8-2 win. The Colonials might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Madison Moran made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Moran wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kalina Childers, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Gia Bono was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Plymouth Whitemarsh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Abington only managed five hits.

Plymouth Whitemarsh is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mt. St. Joseph Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Mt. St. Joseph Academy might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Plymouth Whitemarsh in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Magic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
