Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Eagles vs. Ovilla Christian Eagles

The Trinity Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Ovilla Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Trinity Christian came up short against Fellowship Academy on Saturday, falling 49-24. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ovilla Christian suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Saturday. They were outmatched by Grandview and fell 65-27. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Zebras are ranked 176th).

Trinity Christian will have to contain Sophie Henry as she made an impact in Ovilla Christian's last game. She dropped a double-double on 22 points and 22 boards. Henry is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last 43 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Hensley, who posted two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Ovilla Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 35 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Ovilla Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Trinity Christian, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-6.

Trinity Christian beat Ovilla Christian 64-55 in their previous matchup back in February. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Henry, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 23 boards.
