Football Recap: Arlington Colts vs. Marcus Marauders
Arlington was the 37-14 winner over Marcus when they last played one another back in September of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Arlington Colts took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marcus Marauders on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Marauders are ranked 103rd).
Despite the loss, Arlington still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Robertson, who rushed for 56 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 53 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Marcus found their leader in underclassman Colton Nussmeier, who threw for 239 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes. Isaiah Keliikipi was another key player, rushing for 145 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
Arlington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Marcus, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Arlington is taking a road trip to take on Weatherford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Weatherford focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Marcus, they will challenge Pearce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games.
