After a string of three wins, Deuel's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to the Dakota Valley Panthers 63-57.

Dakota Valley was led to victory by Luke Bruns and Logan Collette. Bruns went 8 of 18 en route to 20 points and eight boards, while Collette went 6 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Bruns' afternoon made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Drew Lukken, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Deuel's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Dakota Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Deuel Cardinals challenge the Groton Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dakota Valley, they will face off against Elk Point-Jefferson at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
