Basketball Recap: Cavion Stokes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Williams over Person

Williams lost against Person back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Williams Bulldogs fell to the Person Rockets 58-54. The Bulldogs were up 48-33 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Williams' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cavion Stokes, who posted ten points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaeden Smith, who earned 14 points.

Williams has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Person, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Williams didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-68 loss against Eastern Alamance on the 31st. As for Person, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-39 victory against Southern Alamance on the 31st.
