Loyalsock Township is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will look to defend their home field against the Hughesville Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Loyalsock Township knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Hughesville likes a good challenge.
Last Thursday, Loyalsock Township beat Lewisburg 12-9. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Green Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Dolan Harman and John Kiehl did most of the damage at the plate: Harman went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Kiehl scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Harman has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Drake Dupont, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Loyalsock Township was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hughesville came up short against Warrior Run on Friday and fell 6-3. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season.
Hughesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Wetzel, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jackson Lunger was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Hughesville fell to 4-1. As for Loyalsock Township, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Loyalsock Township has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hughesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Loyalsock Township suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Hughesville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
