Softball Recap: Wartburg Central Victorious

Wartburg Central posted their closest win since May 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past the Oliver Springs Bobcats 10-9. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Bobcats on Monday, they had to take a 9-5 loss.

Braylen Melton made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Caleigh Crouch was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Madi Aslinger was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI.

Wartburg Central's record now sits at 11-8. As for Oliver Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Wartburg Central nor Oliver Springs have any future games scheduled.
