Baseball Game Preview: Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack vs. St. Rita Mustangs

For the second straight game, Saint Ignatius College Prep will face off against St. Rita. The Wolfpack will head out to square off against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saint Ignatius College Prep is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Saint Ignatius College Prep and St. Rita meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Wolfpack fell 4-1 to the Mustangs.

For St. Rita's part, Sullivan Kazee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. Kazee has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-14 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Christian Clark, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of St. Rita's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 8-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Evan Blake, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Saint Ignatius College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for St. Rita, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-14.
