Football Recap: Lake Creek Falls Despite Big Games from Juan Gonzalez and Zach Colwell

Lake Creek scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montgomery Bears. The Lions lost against the Bears in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 46-14 score last time.

Lake Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Zach Colwell and Juan Gonzalez. Colwell threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns, while Gonzalez picked up 111 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Lake Creek and nudges their season record down to 1-4. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.0 points over those games. As for Montgomery, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lake Creek is set to challenge their familiar foe Dayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Montgomery will square off against rival Huntsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
