Baseball Recap: Lakewood Park Christian Takes a Loss

Lakewood Park Christian extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They lost 15-1 to Prairie Heights. Surprisingly, this marked Lakewood Park Christian's fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Prairie Heights, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Prairie Heights' part, Gavin Garman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Hayward, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joel Graber, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood Park Christian will challenge Fort Wayne Canterbury at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Prairie Heights, they will take on Churubusco at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
