Softball Recap: Northwestern Takes a Loss

After flying high against Horse Creek Academy last Saturday, Northwestern came back down to earth. The Northwestern Trojans came up short against the Nation Ford Falcons on Tuesday, falling 7-1. The Trojans have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

Abby Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Northwestern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Seibert, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Seibert a new career-high in doubles (two).

Northwestern now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Nation Ford, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will head out to face off against Catawba Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nation Ford, they will take on James F. Byrnes in a tournament on Friday.
