Baseball Recap: West Memphis Takes a Loss

West Memphis extended their losing streak to 17 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-18. They lost 14-4 to the Marion Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.

Nolan Rodgers was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Marion, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Marion's side, Robert Hall was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Hall has hit this season. Ladd Langley was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. West Memphis will challenge White Station at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Marion, they will head out to face off against Covington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
