Football Game Preview: Ben Davis Giants vs. Avon Orioles

Ben Davis and Avon are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2017, but not for long. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Ben Davis put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Central 69-35. The Giants haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Ben Davis found their leader in freshman Gabe Kennett, who threw for 370 yards and eight TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 35 yards and one score. Those 370 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Kennett. Da'Vion Davis was another key player, picking up 225 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Ben Davis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Avon made easy work of Noblesville last Friday and carried off a 31-10 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Orioles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Millers are ranked 74th).

Ben Davis better keep an eye on Andre Warfield. He was instrumental in Avon's win, rushing for 179 yards on only 15 carries. Cassius Downing helped out on the ground, rushing for 86 yards.

Avon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jacari Griggs and Nikko Crawford.

Ben Davis' record is now 3-6. As for Avon, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Ben Davis suffered a grim 35-14 defeat to Avon in their previous matchup back in August. Can the Giants avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
