Basketball Recap: York Prep Falls to Legion Collegiate Academy in First Game of Season

York Prep unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 67-6 loss at the hands of the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-4.

Legion Collegiate Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amelia Williams led the charge by going 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points and five steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of LaKiara Alexander, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Legion Collegiate Academy now has a winning record of 7-6.

York Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-17 loss against Catawba Ridge on the 10th. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-51 win against Chambers on the 7th.
