Newell-Fonda came tearing into Friday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Alta-Aurelia Warriors, posting a 70-29 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Warriors are ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newell-Fonda pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Alta-Aurelia, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Coming up, Newell-Fonda will square off against Ridge View at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Alta-Aurelia, they will be playing at home against Odebolt Arthur Battle Creek Ida Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
