Basketball Recap: Camden County Beats Northside - Pinetown for Their Third Straight Win

Camden County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-44 victory over the Northside - Pinetown Panthers. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Panthers are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Camden County had a senior duo take command as Xzavior Wiggins posted 24 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals and Noah Chopek had 12 points and eight assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wiggins has scored at least a third of Camden County's points. Another player making a difference was Kalvin Blount, who put up six points.

Northside - Pinetown lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nick Moore, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Vansant, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Camden County pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Northside - Pinetown, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camden County will host Perquimans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Camden County is facing Perquimans at the right time seeing as Perquimans is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northside - Pinetown, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Northside - Pinetown Panthers face off against the Columbia Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
