Softball Recap: Valley Falls Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Valley Falls and Troy, and Troy kept the tradition alive. Valley Falls lost 21-15 to Troy on Monday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (13), the Dragons still had to take the loss.

Skylar Neiberger led a balanced group of hitters, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Jayden Senn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Neiberger wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Valley Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Valley Falls dropped their record down to 3-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Troy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Falls will face off against Jefferson County North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Falls is facing Jefferson County North at the right time seeing as Jefferson County North is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Troy, they will take on Doniphan West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
